Korean Style Diner for Pinoy Tongue.

Korean idols are known in Southeast Asian countries as well as K-dramas and K-variety shows. I am not a huge fan of K-pop but I am a fan of Korean variety shows. They have a lot of cooking shows that keeps your mouth watering. I started watching 3 meals a day and Running man in 2016. I know I am so late considering the fact that running man has a lot to catch on. Whenever the casts of these two program starts to eat Korean cuisine makes me feel like drooling LOL 🙂 I know I am not the only one.

So yesterday, I was able to visit a Korean diner with my best-friends and of course we immediately checked the menu. I am familiar with TteOkbokki, Bulgogi, Kimbab and Kimchi soup but we did not try all the dishes.

We ordered…

• TteOkbokki

The one that we had I believe is what they call Rabokki, the combination of ramen and tteokbokki (korean rice cake).

I have been craving for this. It tasted a bit sweet and spicy, you can choose whether you want it to be 2x hot or more but I chose mild as I want to taste and distinguish the texture of the Korean rice cake. It has cabbage leaves, spicy sauce, hard boiled egg and sesame seeds on top. It was perfectly cooked and heaven in my mouth 🙂

KImbap is a rice roll like sushi. It has veggies on it with pork.

I was excited to try this out but I was not a big fan after one bite. It tasted a bit weird and I wanted to dip it with soy sauce, maybe because my tongue is not used to but I will try to have some next time.

Though the Korean diner we went to did not use a Korean beef, still it was worth it. The one we had was a marinated pork and grilled it.

And the moment of truth, my mouth was watering during the grilling time LOL it was so good though and I couldn’t get enough. It is good when the rice and galbi with hot pepper paste on top is wrapped with lettuce and eat the whole thing. Trust me, it is a bomb! 🙂

Thoughts..

Hmm who doesn’t love to eat :). Regardless of some of the ingredients that were used for these delish meals aren’t originally from South Korea, I am satisfied although I did not try all their menu but there’ll be next time. I would love to try some Indian food in the future.

My first English song that I learned.

I’m speechless and shocked at the moment. I just don’t know what to react, whilst writing this probably you heard the breaking news that Dolores O’riordan passed away. I grew up with The Cranberries songs and Zombie was a big hit in the Philippines back in 90’s. I remember when I was just 4-5 years old the only word that I can correctly pronounced was the Zombie, and of course Dolores was admired by many including myself. My dad had cassette tapes of the cranberries before and would listen to their music everytime he’s at home. It’s totally shocking. She’s one of the favorite that never fades. I’m still amazed of her powerful voice until today.

My condolences goes out to the family and fans out there 💔.

Peer Pressure. (Adult Version??)

Even you reached the age of 20’s, you still wondering what to do in your life. Ever since I turned 20, I never pressured myself to be an adult nor act like an adult. When I was in grade school or high school, no one in my school influenced me to do something or how to act being around with other people. Though, I did crazy stuff not because I was told but I am just naturally weird person that do crazy stuff at times. Thankfully, I was never been bullied or was I a bully.

I always dress appropriately but I am so comfortable with T-shirts and jeans. Recently, I was told to try to dress up a bit with exposing a little bit of skin as I am in the right age to do that where I can totally show off something which I am not so comfortable with. Of course, I want to dress up properly and nicely like everyone else BUT in the right occasions. The trouble is when you tried to explain yourself (even you don’t have to) to some people  you know why and they would tease you like “you are not 16 anymore” and “should dress based on my age” or “you should enjoy being in a disco bar and get drunk”. I get that and I don’t see anything bad if you give suggestions to someone you know on how to dress up. It is actually a big help but in terms of telling how you live your life, and you keep telling them all over again that’s a NO! It is not a bad thing to enjoy life of course, but I would rather be on the beach listening to the waves at night while having a cold beer. We all have different preferences how to enjoy our lives.

Maturity comes naturally I think, it depends on what situation you are in and how you handle a situation. I cannot pretend just to be liked, if I am shy to talk to you then I would be timid, If my craziness would level up high then I would act crazy around you, If I want to fart in front of you then I would but I don’t just fart anywhere ok LOL 🙂 (I only fart in front to those people I love the most) I am just saying.  Even you get to the age where you can do anything, we should always ground ourselves and we should never forget the values that our parents taught us. It is not like being in your own shell, more likely being comfortable of who you are and what you want to be.

Day 6.. interesting

I know that a lot of people at this moment are still recovering with Holiday seasons hangover. It is the best days of the year for some, filled with delicious foods, spend time with family, friends and loved ones. It must be fun, right? My year so far started alright. The first thing that came through my mind from day 1 this year is to get a freaking JOB! Haha although I already made a back up plans in case I don’t get hired this month. Fortunately, I got a text from a supervisor of a BPO company yesterday as I applied for the position of call center agent. I was scheduled for final interview as I’ve been waiting for them to contact me for a month. I was so nervous and my anxiety was super high.. you know that feeling when you get so nervous you have the urge to poo or throw up 🙂 haha yep! I went there and finally, the words that I’ve been wanting to hear. YOU ARE HIRED! It felt satisfying a bit and relieved! I graduated for my degree almost 10 months ago, from April to December I was really having a hard time and I was really frustrated. I prayed every single night for my goals and dreams to achieve.

I’m so grateful 🙂

IS THIS MY DREAM JOB? NO! This is not my dream job but you have to be wise to able to survive. I still have tons of my plate. I see myself growing in that company in terms of skills and I can say it is good for training ground. I already have plans in the future, hopefully that I could take another field of work again. This might test my capabilities lol:)

Inspiration? I was born persistent but to be honest I surrender at times easily cuz I get really down and I can easily knocked out by emotions and frustrations. I’m lucky enough to have a supportive family, they didn’t pressure me to get a job because they knew I was having a hard time to find a right job. Also, I am so grateful that I have someone that I look up to, inspired me to do well and work my a** off. Though, I’m sure that he doesn’t know what he means to me LOL. if you are reading this, you know I will be around hahaha lol 🙂 Thank you Lord for everything! And to Mr. Stalker, thank you <3.

2017, what a year!

New Year’s Eve isn’t that bad, it is a bit quiet and solemn as of now but it will be wild in the neighborhood in a bit later. Our family would gather together every new year’s eve and have a special dinner. Usually, we just stay at home cuz it wouldn’t be that safe to be outside as there are people who are using illegal fireworks or improvised firecrackers in the street. But this year is different, the government is so strict when it comes to firecrackers or fireworks.

2017 is the year where I was able to wear a graduation gown and said good bye to my alma mater. Last year wasn’t that great. I was in a stressful mode during my thesis and then yes I survived. This year, it made me realized a lot of things.. like it isn’t easy to get a job 😂 and I was totally frustrated but then I gotta keep going. For 5 years I didn’t really have rest days or vacations because I was too busy with my studies but this year I rested well and I realized I am not used to just staying at home. My mind and body still craving for challenges. What I didn’t achieve this year is that finding a job to make a living. That is the goal that I set to myself before I graduated, to find a job..but reality bites, it is hard. I received a lot of rejections this year in terms of career 😅 and when it comes to personal life..hmm I’m not sure LOL.

My family has been ok and probably ready for the next chapter although we gone thru difficult times this year but I’m grateful for the outcome. We are still intact thank God. I hope that we will continuously stay healthy in 2018, I thank God for having such wonderful family (not always wonderful 😂). As well as to my friends, they are well and fine so i hope it will stays like that haha. Moreover, I met a person that I even couldn’t believe that it would give me so much inspiration and lifted me up in many ways which became my source of strength. I thank God and this certain person that I got a chance to met him and I want to thank a person, who, I think it wouldn’t be possible to meet this person without her. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

We might be broken in 2017, hopefully we get to rebuild ourselves until we are ok again and hopefully 2018 is a new start. I am very hopeful.

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION?

I don’t do such anymore! LOL I’ve had enough with resolutions that won’t really happen because of lack of determinations. I hope that 2018 will bring me something good and weird. Am I ready? Hell I Am!

I hope god will guide me to the journey that I will take in 2018, and guide my loved ones as well. Thank you lord for all the blessings that you gave me and my family this year. And those who are going through hardships at this moment I send my prayers to you. God bless us all!

Sunshine? Such a coincidence.

 

Wow! As much as I love the sun, I couldn’t believe this one after the other nomination that I got the other day, what a great way to end the year of 2017. Whilst writing this blog, I am so busy with my chores and preparing for our New Year’s Eve dinner. I am an inexperienced blogger who is trying to learn about blogging, I am so grateful that there are people out there that appreciate what I write.

1. Where are you from? Describe it!

• I’m from the beautiful country called Philippines, that has a unique physical feature in the world map. It consist 7,641 islands and in counting as there are tons of undiscovered paradise throughout the country. I live in a large major island called Mindanao that also has smaller islands.

2. Why did you start your blog?

• Like what I stated in my previous blog, I am fascinated by writers and bloggers. I hope in the future I can be able to write my own book 🙂 haha!

3. How did you choose your niche?

• Honestly, I was having a hard time what niche should I have cuz there are tons of niche that talks about beauty, travel or fashion. The trouble is I’m not really an expert to beauty and fashion so I decided to just to just write everything that can relate to ordinary people.

4. If you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?

• This is an easy question but seems really hard to answer haha. I would be just like DARNA. Darna is a fictional Filipino superhero, she’s a bit similar to wonder woman but Darna is not an amazon or something. Lol she’s just an ordinary woman with a pure heart and became a superhero when she swallow a magic white stone and transform to a powerful woman after shouting Darna hahaha 🙂

5. Are you a believer?

• I AM!

6. What’s your favorite place where you ever have been. Tell me your reasons.

• As of now, I don’t have such favorite place. I think I would say my hometown. No place like home just like what they say. 😉

7. Where would you like to live and why?

• Ah this is such a weird question, I would like to live in a place where no one knows me haha 🙂 if I could just live in heaven than I would probably go.

8. What would you do with 1.000.000 dollars?

•  I would buy a house and lot for my parents and build my own business. And the rest would be donated for shelter for those elders who got abandoned by their children, for indigenous people and to the children in a very secluded mountains who traveled hours by walking and crossed rivers just to get to the school school Dollars is too big when it comes to my currency so I probably donate for children in Yemen who suffered malnutrition.

9. What’s you best memory from a trip? What’s your worse?

• Best memory I think when I went to another city and we went to the grocery store where no one knows what I was talking about as they can’t speak and understand my native language bwuaaha :). And for the worse, when other people tried to ripped us off 🙂

10. Sea or mountain? Why?

•  ahhhh!! why so hard. Well I live in land and mountain is not that hard to reach so I would choose Sea. I love the clear blue sea ❤

11. If someone writes a book about your life, what title would have?

• That would be ” Strong Heart, Angel Lou” 🙂

I did not expect that someone would nominate me for Liebster Award, the fact that I am only a newbie in the blogging world. I am so delighted and humbled to received an award nomination from Vesna at whisper365blog.wordpress.com. She blogs about travel destinations and what really caught my attention to her blog is about life lessons. You should check her blog out. I am not really familiar about the award, I heard about it just recently and probably didn’t approach Vesna to nominate me. I feel honored as someone like her take notice to my blog that is only a free plan.

1. Why did you start blogging?

• I have been fascinated by writers and bloggers. I have been wanting to blog since 2015 and I decided to make my first blog last year whilst I was on my On-the-job but I was really hesitant to make it a habit. Until around 2 months ago someone told me why not try blogging and my confidence was awoken lol which I fancy to do so even before I met this person.

2. How has Blogging affected your life?

• Well, as a newbie I can honestly say it doesn’t affect me big time as of now. But I now realized even you get just 5 people who visits and view your blogs, still, in strange way you feel that there’s an acknowledgment going on there LOL 🙂

3. What is your favorite book or series and why?

•  I love Dan Brown’s masterpiece from The Da Vinci Code to Inferno. I am not really into arts but the book introduced me to the places that hopefully, one day I’ll be able to visit, and the story itself is very intriguing and relevant to reality.

4. What kind of blogs do you like the most?

• I like travel blogs and blogs about life experiences which I can probably learn from it :).

5. What is your philosophy in life?

• hmm well my philosophy in life is giving a life a meaning 🙂

6. What are you most grateful about?

• I am grateful for the things that I’ve received, it is not much but still I am very thankful as I know there are people out there who are struggling and trying to survive in their everyday lives. I am grateful that I can look forward for tomorrow, that I have a reason to wake up each day. I am grateful for the people that I have met and gave me a huge impact in life. I’m just grateful for everything.

7. If you have a time machine when and where would you go and why?

• If I have a time machine I would probably go to the place where I will be in 2 years. I would like to see what will I become in 2 years in terms of career, goals that i set to myself and of course my personal life. I am very much happy and lucky with family and friends. I am in the stage where I know exactly what I want and who I want to become, and a person that I want to be with. I cannot disclosed that here as it is very personal.

8. What 3 words describe you best?

• This is a hard one LOL:) well what I mostly heard from people is that they described me as Humble, spirited and crazy LOL 🙂

9. What advice would you give your 18 years old self?

• That would be it’s ok to wait for your turn as long as you put your mind into it and you should really take the Law course or MedTech course LOL:). I sacrificed and waited for 2 years for my turn to get into uni because my parents couldn’t afford to send both me and my brother to uni. And due to financial struggles that we had, I didn’t take the course that I desired to but it’s ok.

10. What makes you happiest?

• I couldn’t really answer this question before but I think I can now. What makes me happy is that helping other people in needs. Last but not the least is my family, friends and the one that my heart loves 🙂

FACTS ABOUT ME: I am  quiet obsessed with Tim Burton’s animated movies. I cannot swim in 6ft deep lol but I love the water and ocean. And If I die, I would request to my family to lay me on a bed of any kind of blue flowers and decorate my coffin with of course blue flowers. 😉

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! We only have 3 hours before Christmas, hope you’ll have a joyous christmas with family.

Tropical Storm Vinta

Whilst writing this blog I feel like I am going to explode cuz I am not so well, headaches and runny nose got me LOL :). Today my beloved hometown was hit by the storm called Vinta (international name Tembin) and not just my hometown but most of the places of the Mindanao and Visayas were hit by the typhoon. December isn’t just for holiday seasons here in the Philippines but also it is that time of the year where bad weather occur. Back in 2011, it was like a ghost town in my city ( Cagayan de Oro City) because we lost thousand of lives caused by the storm. It was reported that Vinta would be worse than the storm 6 years ago. We really need sustainable development and also strict implementation for logging, we suffer because of our own actions. We probably make use of the resources that we have but we should also take good care of the environment as if it’s also our own body. Environment is just like our body, we spend so much time working with bad habits. We can easily deteriorate our health and same as with nature. But the reality is environmentalist aren’t being heard. C’mon, there are a lot of environmental activists out there that are still keep fighting to protect the nature but not being heard enough.

You know what’s good being a Filipino, we may be hit by big storms but we still able to have a big smile in our faces despite of tragedy. Kudos and thank you to those Rescue teams, army, policemen and civilians who are so willing to help their fellow kagay-anons even their own safety are at risk. Also to the government officials, media outlets, Facebook pages and ordinary individuals who kept updating the netizens during the typhoon.

I send my sincere condolences to the family who lost their loved ones because of this tragedy. It is a sad and terrible news especially Christmas is coming. May their souls will be rest in peace.
